Keeping careful track of your spending is the first step in saving money. Here are some helpful tips to get you started:
Banking Open a savings account and have the bank representative set up an automatic transfer from your checking to the savings for as much as you can budget each paycheck. Even if it were only $25 dollars a month to start with, in 20 years you would have saved over $6,000. Then forget you have the savings account!
Buy in Bulk Become a member of Wholesalers like Costco or Sam’s Club. The membership fees pay for themselves, especially if you have a family.
Eating out
Stop buying your morning coffee from the coffee house. If you drink regular coffee you could save up to $40 dollars a month by bringing your coffee from home. If you buy lattes or mochas etc…Invest in an espresso maker. We spend $15-$25 dollars a week buying espresso at coffee houses and that could add up to as much as $1,200 dollars a year.
Bring your lunch to work, send your family off with homemade lunches also. Most people spend between $5-$10 dollars a day eating out for lunch. That adds up fast! How about $25-$50 dollars a week or $1,200-$2,400 dollars a year!
Sales Be patient. If you see something at the store you just must have, wait for the next sale or coupon, it’s sure to be the day after you buy at full price!
