natural consequences

Drawing on the closet door? Natural consequences are the best way to teach a lesson. There often doesn’t need to be any other type of punishment. My toddler used her drawing skills with a crayon all over her closet door one day. I said, “Oh no, now we have to clean it up”. I got the spray cleaner and a rag. I put the rag in her hand and sprayed the door. Then showed her how to rub it off. She rubbed and complained that it was hard. I said, "Keep on rubbing, it isn’t off yet." So, she rubbed and rubbed (I did help with the rubbing) until we got it all off. I then gave her some paper to draw on. She never did draw on the closet door again.
