homework woes | housework | kitchen hints | laundry | morning chaos

Welcome to homework woe hints!

Set up a schedule. Give the kids about 1/2 hour to 1 hour after school for snack time and play time. Then have a regular place they go to do their homework. Make sure it is:

•Well lit
•Quiet
•Well ventilated
If kids know what to expect, and it is the same each day, homework will go much more easily.

Check their homework when they say they are all finished. Give praise for a job well done. Do not accept sloppy work. They will soon know what you expect from them and will be less likely to “forget” to do homework or turn in unsatisfactory work.

Take the time to check them on their spelling words or other subjects they are to memorize. Knowing that you are interested in their work and care enough to help them do well will help their self-esteem and is a bonding tool.

Check out ama’s corner for more wisdom and encouragement in the home.
