• Rise and remain standing while the National Anthem is playing. Even the very young can be taught to do this. Men, remove your hats. If you are walking around when it starts to play, stop and stand at attention. Don’t talk, smoke or make other loud noises. At home, in private, it isn’t necessary when the National Anthem is playing on the TV or radio.
• Treat the American flag with respect. Respected flags do not touch the ground, water, or floor.
• When a flag passes by, stand at attention. Men, remove your hats with your right hand and hold it over your heart.
